Julien Sunyé, a European photographer born in Amsterdam, draws profound inspiration from his summers in southern France and daily life in northern Holland.
Influenced by existentialist thinkers like Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir, as well as humanist photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa, Sunyé’s work delves into themes of the human condition, resilience, beauty and contemporary challenges such as justice, freedom and climate change.
His photography spans a wide range of subjects including humanist street scenes, surreal conceptual works, as well as fine art nudes. Whether capturing the candid intimacy of Paris and Istanbul, the haunting surrealism of Black Holes, or the playful absurdity of his Welcome to the machine series, Sunyé’s images evoke a sense of timelessness and emotional depth.
